Electronic Entrance Cards (Name, Teaching Assignment, Expectations for Class, Software of Most Interest to them, Techno Goals for Upcoming Year)

9:00-9:30         Class-building Exercises

9:30-10:00       Expectations, Syllabus, Grading Policy, Housekeeping

10:00-10:15     Break

10:15-10:30     ISTE Standards

10:30-12:00     PowerPoint Instruction

                        Four Basic Design Principles

                        Utilizing Software

12:00-1:00       Lunch

1:00-3:00         Research Activity:  “A Brief, Selective, and Idiosyncratic History of Computers”

1:00-3:00         PowerPoint (One-on-One) Instruction and Lab

Project #1: Presentation- students divide article and present respective chunks to class

3:00-3:15         Break

3:15-4:30         Begin Student Presentations (Complete History becomes Common Knowledge)

4:30-4:45         “Unpack” Activity:  Electronic Discussion/Exit Card

4:45-5:00         Discuss assignment #1.

 

 

 

Day 2              Excel (Manipulation of Student Data)

 

8:00-8:30         Discussion:  Issues from Electronic Exit Cards

8:30-9:00         Conclude PowerPoint Presentations; Unpack Activity

9:00-10:00       Instruction: Introduce Excel as Student Information Manipulation Software (see spreadsheet)

10:00-10:15     Break

10:15-12:00     Activity: Create formulas (sum, mean, mode, median, min, max) and charts to glean info. from spreadsheet; reformat spreadsheet to make information more clear.

12:00-1:00       Lunch

1:00-1:15         Continue Work in Spreadsheet Software

1:15-3:00         Instruction:

                        Activity:

                        Assign Reading:  Shakespeare Article

3:00-3:15         Break

3:15-4:30         Lab Time: Assignment:  take info from spreadsheet and create a chart that makes sense of the information.  Take that chart and place it (and a part of the spreadsheet) in a PowerPoint Presentation to present to class tomorrow.

4:30-4:45         Electronic Discussion
