1998-1999. These classroom web sites include electronic discussions, electronic
portfolios, and instructional pages. In addition to my classroom sites, I have created
other sites such as the web site for the Penn High School Chapter of the
Anti-Defamation League, I.T.W.-Indiana Teachers of
Writing and the Penn-Harris-Madison Planetarium.

Student-Centered Classroom- In this
presentation, I detail my research on digitizing the
classroom. I talk about three primary parts: the classroom web site as
information disseminator, on-line literary discussions, and electronic portfolios as
authentic assessment devices.

"Connecting the
Mortals:"An On-line Exchange based on The Odyssey by Homer- A plan for distance
learning known as an On-line Exchange between three classes from across the nation.
This exchange first took place in the spring of 1998, but I will be conducting a similar
exchange this year with a class from Vermont.

Teaching: Writing Process in the Late Twentieth
Century" Presented to the faculties at Saint Joseph's Elementary and Saint
Monica's Elementary Schools in Mishawaka IN. Penn teacher Shannon Gray and I
collaborated on a teacher inservice on teaching the writing process in December of 1999.

Advertising in Schools- Big and small businesses often
help school programs go. Without their support, many
extra-curricular programs would fall by the wayside. Does their
benevolence give businesses the right to advertise to the same students
they help in the public institutions that make up America's public school
system? |

"In Church"- A personal
experience essay I composed for a lunch-time reading at the Indiana Teachers of Writing
Conference in Indianapolis. I have also used it in my classroom as a model for my
students when they were composing their personal experience narratives.

my research as an Eighth Grade Language Arts Teacher in 1997-1998.
